The Best And Coolest Free Stock Images Websites

Most of us heard the idiom “A picture is worth a thousand words”. Pictures are powerful, and they should be used wisely by website owners. People nowadays don’t like reading long articles, and pictures can illustrate and explain complex ideas quickly and simply. So, it’s not surprising that most of the articles and website we visit – contain images and pictures ! But how the website owners find these pictures?

Some website owners buy stock images. Others just use free stock images websites, and some “steal” images online (against the law). Here is our list of the best free stock images websites :

Buying Stock Images

There are hundreds of websites that sell stock images, videos and illustrations. For few dollars (or even less sometimes) you can buy any stock photo you want and use it on your website – totally legally. These websites offer HUGE selection of stock images, in any category and niche. Each time you buy an image  – the photographer and the website that sells the photos earn money. Many of these stock photos websites even offer membership plans. If you post articles on your website on daily basis, and need high-quality images – it’s a good solution for you.

Many website owners just can’t afford spending “few dollars” a day buying stock images (it adds up really quickly). But for those that can – stock images websites are great. You definitely get what you pay for.

There are also “cheap” stock images websites that sell photos for as little as 5 cents. The image quality there is pretty similiar to free stock images websites – so I don’t recommend using them.

Free Stock Images

There are many website that offer stock images for completely free. Some of them will ask you to post a link to their website in return, but many of them don’t. The selection of images on these websites is pretty big, but not as big – or as good as on paid photo websites. Also, these free stock images are not always perfect. But don’t get me wrong – you can definitely find great photos on free stock images websites ! Sometimes you will just need to search on few of them before you find the best photo for your needs.

On Fiverr, you can find many sellers that will search free stock images websites for you and choose the best images for your needs. This service will cost you $5, and can save you a lot of time. You just give them the desired topics, and get the free-to-use images in hours.

Also, there are many WordPress plugins that will make the whole process of searching for free-to-use photos quicker and easier. I highly recommend the Pixabay Images WordPress plugin. It’s easy to use and works really well. I use it as well, and in my opinion there is a big enough selection of photos there. Just click on it’s button and you will be able to insert images directly to your WordPress post !

Should You Steal Images Online ?

Absolutely no ! You can’t just copy images you like and post them on your website. Many images online are copyright protected. You can get sued, that happens. If you can’t afford (or just don’t want to) buying stock images, use free stock photos website instead. And of course read their terms, because in many cases -there are some rules you need to follow.

If you found an image that you REALLY want to use – try to contact the website owner and ask him about it. If it’s his (he owns it, not just bought it) , ask for a permission to use it (and leave a link to his website in return).
